The company Revo Foods develops plant-based seafood alternatives since 2020 in Vienna, Austria. Our goal is to fully recreate the texture, structure, taste and nutritional profile of seafoods like salmon and tuna, but with 100% plant-based ingredients. This way, we want to give consumers a healthy and more sustainable alternative compared to the products of industrial fishery / aquaculture. The first products that will hit the market are smoked salmon stripes and salmon spreads, while we fully focus on the development of salmon and tuna sashimi at the moment. These product will be first made available in Austria at the end of 2020, but we will expand to more European markets soon.
The company has won multiple awards, including from EIT Food, EIT Manufacturing, the Rudolf Sallinger Award and the ClimateLaunchPad competition, and has collaborations ongoing with Wageningen University and BOKU University Vienna.
